Boy it feels like a crime to be posting this. I had a truly great Thanksgiving; we hosted our first Turkey Day in our house, had family here, and everything turned out great, from the bird (my first roast turkey – I either eat someone else’s or deep-fry it) to the cousin relations to the weather. I wore my Cablipstick, which matched nicely with all the Thanksgiving colors, lol, and also wore my apron throughout the entire meal – whoops! The time off was fabulous – very very good.
And
I don’t really want to go into detail about how it all went to sh*t, but within a few hours of the dust settling and the kids gone to mom’s and realizing that it was time to return to normalcy, a bunch of bad mojo came in and yukky stuff and while this is vague, I guess I can say that somewhere between directly and indirectly, it has to do with the pics in this post.
It’s hubbo’s cable sweater, knit from the collar down. So far, it’s looking rather swell. I’m using the cable band from Avast down the sleeves, and keeping the rest stockinette until the lower waist, which is supposed to have something similar to the arms but I don’t know how to deal with that yet (I don’t know if I can stomach knitting a band and then sewing it on – dh doesn’t want any seams there anyway – advice is appreciated).
Another thing I don’t know is how to deal with the icky gloom that has settled in here. Bah. So today I am
going to put the nose to the grindstone and finish grading, work on my Chapter 10, clean up the sink, put out the recycling, and try to put the crap out of my mind for a while. I have a blessed few days of pure alone time coming up, with no driving to kingdom come or voices in my head telling me what I need to get done by 5 pm and all that jazz, and even though much of that time will be filled with end-of-term grading, I cannot wait.
Still, despite the blah blechies, it’s been great to hear about everyone’s Thanksgivings, and the holiday knitting coming up. Not all is gloom and doom in Auragone land – somebody maybe just bought herself 9 skeins of Plymouth Dk baby alpaca in lt. cornflower – on sale, with an additional $10 off here. I have it in my head to make something like this…. (the orange one. Easily down top-down….)
And, let’s just say the knitting of this sweater has suddenly lost its fire – I was getting some good progress, just a few inches away from dividing for sleeves and the heaven of knitting a stockinette tube. But I did end up knitting my square for the Gracious Parcels project – out of some beautiful ice blue chunky alpaca I had leftover from a hat/scarf set…. Boy do I love alpaca. It’s enough to cheer a girl up, for a little while anyway.
