In a hurry today – I’m trying to finish up my work quickly so that me and kids can dye our yarn today (Kool Aid, of course). But not too much in a hurry to find some old pics. These were taken when I first discovered the joys of macro. Nothing I did photography-wise was earth shattering and it certainly wasn’t new, but at least they’re better than yesterday’s tutorial! I remember a lot of joy around the time It ook these photos; that was a good time for creativity.
The grapes were taken in 2002, during a writer’s conference in Napa Valley. Writers + wine = THE BEST TIME IN THE WORLD. I miss that conference. Anyway, the grapes were just turning, and it was fascinating to walk among the vines. (A little buzz didn’t hurt either.) There’s some word for this, but I’m too lazy to look it up.
And the leaf and rose – well, it rains a lot here, and the droplets looked pretty. I think I wanted to post these pics because even though I live in rain 8 months of the year, and our summer sunshine has been lovely, I crave a good, steady, cleansing rain. Settle the dust, soften the petals, and soothe the mind.
Enjoy! Wish me luck with the kool aid (and the kids…)

You’ll have lots of fun dyeing yarn with the kids – my kids did it during spring break with me and had SO much fun but I haven’t knit them any socks with it yet and they’re pestering me…!! heh Don’t they know about stash and knitting priorities and WIPs and FOs??
Your ECF photos are SO pretty – the grapes create such an image of richness and everything that goes with grapes and California and conferences and ahhh, everyone should have such an awesome experience. I can smell the rose – my grandmother kept roses and they always smelled best right after it rained. Everything was so clean. I think that’s one reason why people like pictures of flowers with water droplettes – it just feels and looks and smells sooooo clean and pure.
