Loser. Lame-ass. No excuse. Can I make it up to you?
These are various phrases and words uttered by dh on July the 19th, the day my birthday was completely and utterly forgotten by all in my immediate family, save for the eldest stepdtr, who has now officially become the favorite child despite being
hormonal, 11 1/2, and a serial vomiter while in the UK.
Dh is mostly out of the doghouse; he ran himself into a frenzy on Wednesday to catch me at work and give me these:
Awww.
I believe I shall also be taken to a fine, fine restaurant next week, for a dinner enjoyed by the two of us, and then, only then, shall I finally declare this faux pas to be faux passed. HA! That was lame, but hey, it’s 7:15 on Friday morning.
Birthday schmirthday, that sucked, but it’s over. In all truthfulness, I’m over it. Dh felt monumentally bad and while it definitely sucked to be forgotten, I know it wasn’t intentional. (And groveling sure helped too.)
In other news, I finished and blocked the Clapotis scarf yesterday. This thing is impossible to photograph, in terms of color accuracy. I think the blocking pic may actually be the most realistic, and also, the least pleasing esthetically.

Love my blocking set up? Beach towels next to a cabinet drawer still waiting on installation. Nice.
Here it is, dry (that didn’t take long in this heat, argh) and hanging on a chair – only the flash really captured the colors. I believe I can send it today, and now, I can cast on for the third time and see if I can get past row 3 on the Trellis Scarf. Blasted lace… I always had one stitch too many after the first row of the beginning lace chart. Now armed with a different needle and stitch markers, I shall try again. But here, I present the Clappy scarf. I used bamboo circs, US 7, and did 2 repeats of the increase section (plus the req’d half), and then did enough straights until I felt it was long enough. It goes pretty quickly. Yarn from EwePhoria Yarns on ebay, a 50% wool, 50% mohair blend, in colorway “Iris.”
